2011 in retrospect
01-30-2012 - With discovering new course locations like Hong Kong or Nigeria, expanding our educational portfolio of courses, hiring new staff members and launching a new series of dialogue events - 2011 was definitely a very successful year for the team of the Collective Leadership Institute.
Looking back at 2011 we are proud to be able to increase participation in our courses by 208 percent compared to 2010! Last year alone 324 alumni took part in our educational programs, leaving our overall alumni number at 741. Most of our alumni represent development cooperation institutions (40%) the public sector (27%) and the private sector (10%) and come from Africa, Europe and Asia. Nevertheless we are happy that in 2011 we could welcome 32 new alumni from Latin America!
Also, next to our well proven courses "Working with Stakeholder Dialogues" and "Advanced: Working with Stakeholder Dialogues" we launched our new course format "Leveraging Collective Leadership for Sustainability". In October a group of 14 high-level participants from institutions like the African Union, UNICEF, GIZ and UNESCO worked on their specific leadership challenges and tapped into the adventure of designing their personal leadership development path. The course focuses on understanding both the individual and the collective leadership contribution to sustainability initiatives and complex cooperation projects and was very well received by the first group of participants:
"The course ‘Leveraging Collective Leadership for Sustainability’ will definitely make a difference in my work with different stakeholders. It provided excellent technics that will help re-shape relationships based on multiple interests of different stakeholders so that I feel confident that I can now engage stakeholders in a more meaningful way."
We hope that 2012 will be just as exciting for us. This years' first course taking place in Almaty, Kazakhstan with simultaneous translation into Russian is definitely a thrilling start!
